UPDATE: Body found at Heroes Circle identified as that of 13-y-o Denham Town student
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The body of a young male found in the vicinity of National Heroes Circle this morning has been identified as that of Grade 8 student, Roshane Smith from the Denham Town High School.
The hands of the 13-year-old were bound and the face covered with a shirt. There were also what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head, a release from the Education Ministry said.
School administrators report that Roshane was last seen in school on January 19.
Education Minister Senator Ruel Reid has expressed sadness at the loss of another young life and extended condolences to Roshane’s immediate family and members of the school community, especially to his classmates.
A team of counsellors from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information has been dispatched to help them cope with this loss.
The minister plans to visit the school on Monday.
