Corey Todd’s trial put off until May 4
The trial for nightclub owner and promoter Corey Todd, who allegedly attacked Grammy-nominated artiste Devin Di Dakta, failed to get under way in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday.
When the matter was called up, the prosecutor told the court that the Crown had some difficulties and had to seek assistance from another clerk. The prosecutor also told the court that Todd’s attorney, Peter Champagnie, had not yet received a disclosure.
A May 4 trial date was subsequently set.
Todd is facing charges of malicious destruction of property and assault occasioning bodily harm.
Allegations are that in January 2016, Devin Di Dakta was taken from a nightclub into the parking lot by several members of Todd’s security team and beaten. The reason given was that he did a song which was perceived to have been disrespectful to Todd.
