Do you want to contribute to Sigma Run?
People who want to donate funds to this year’s Sigma Corporate Run have a number of platforms to help the organisers realise their target of $60 million which they intend to donate to three entities that provide children with health care.
The most successful is the hugely popular public donation platform generosity.com which was relaunched in an effort to help raise funds for the 2016 beneficiaries — Bethlehem Home for Abandoned Children, Spanish Town Hospital Special Care Unit, and the Mandeville Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
“We know Jamaicans in the diaspora are big supporters of the Sigma Run and, by extension Jamaica, so we are relying on them heavily to help raise this ambitious target for children of their home nation,” a company release quotes Ingrid Card, Sagicor Group’s vice-president of Group Marketing.
“Last year was the first time we launched the generosity crowdfunding account and it bore fruitful benefits, so this year we are exhausting all our efforts to make it even more successful. It’s another avenue for Jamaicans living across the world to lend assistance to our child-based charities here in Jamaica,” Card said.
Generosity is free, fast, and safe, giving individuals and organisations the power to improve lives everywhere.
People who wish to donate to these three beneficiaries can visit generosity.com and type Sigma Run in the search bar or the Sagicor Group Jamaica website: www.sagicorjamaica.com and select the options to donate via generosity.com and PayPal.
Local residents can donate through pledge cards or make cheques payable to Sagicor Foundation or Sigma Run 2017. Deposits can also be made at any Sagicor Bank location islandwide or cash deposit to account number 5502326386. Other contributions can be made through the purchase of the Sigma Run Charity Bracelets available at Sagicor Bank branches islandwide, or the official 2017 Sigma Run T-shirts, the news release advised.
To purchase any of these items, individuals can contact the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run Secretariat at 936-7843, 936-7361 or 936-7262 or e-mail S GJSigmaSecretariat@Sagicor.com.
Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run is scheduled for Sunday, February 19.
Last year, the run raised more than $35 million with a record number of almost 24,000 participants.
In its 19-year history, the Sigma Run road race has inspired individuals and groups to make donations in addition to registering for the run to further accumulate funds for its charities and its goodwill that it extends to the Jamaican populace.
To date, approximately $200 million has been raised for a number of child-care and health-related facilities. Funds raised are used to purchase well-needed equipment and services for the long-term maintenance of institutions.
