#CariftaGames: Jamaica wins two gold, silver in 4x400m races
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica continued to show their prowess on the track this evening, winning two more gold medals and a silver in the 4x400m races at the 2017 FLOW CARIFTA Games in Curacoa.
Kimorla Mushette, Nicolee Foster, Shiann Salmon and Junelle Bromfield clocked 3:37.96 to claim gold in the girls’ Under-20 4x400m ahead of The Bahamas (3:50.38) and The British Virgin Island (3:53.04).
Meanwhile, the Jamaican team of Malik Smith, Timor Barrett, Dashawn Morris and Christopher Taylor claimed silver with a 3:10.34 run in the boys’ category.
They were beaten by Trinidad and Tobago (3:09.32). Bahamas was third with 3:18.03.
And, the Under-18 girls’ team of Kimara Francis, Joanne Reid, Shaquena Foote and Sanique Walker ran a brilliant 3:38.73 to snatch another 4x400m gold for Jamaica, outrunning Bahamas (3:41.42) and Trinidad and Tobago (3:43.05).
Jamaica did not compete in the Under-18 boys’ 4x400m relay as the team of Ramone Lindo, Jevaughn Powell, Rovane Williams, and Antonio Watson was disqualified from the semi-finals for a baton change outside the changeover zone under IAAF rule 170.19.
