Fort Knox, the Philip Feannytrained chestnut filly, returned to winning ways on Saturday in a five round (1,000m) non-winners of two event following a revamp of equipment by Feanny who removed the cheek pieces and the tongue tie.

The Adore The Gold – Purejoy offspring showed little in the recent 1000 Guineas over a mile when finishing in eighth position, 16 ¼ lengths, behind winner, She’s A Maneater.

The chestnut filly turned up on Saturday against much more moderate opposition, romping home by six comfortable lengths in a quick 59.3 seconds, sitting behind splits of 22.3 and 46.3 seconds.

With Percy Williams doing the riding honours, the Balkrishen Sagan-Maraj-owned Fort Knox once again showed good speed and raced into second position as Don’t Blush Babe (Anthony Thomas) set the early pace.

By the time the field turned for home, Fort Knox was already charging down on Don’t Blush Babe and then the filly pulled away to emphatically record win number two. After the race, Williams spoke of the run by Fort Knox.

“The performance was good, I mean Fort Knox ran really well to win and that win I was also expecting.

The trainer (Philip Feanny) had freshened her up, changed some equipment and I think that helped her in winning.

He took off the tongue tie and figure eight and ran her only on Lasix and that did the trick,” Williams explained.

When asked about the Jamaica Oaks, Williams said: “No, I don’t think that Fort Knox will be heading there. She is a very nice and talented racehorse but I don’t think that the trainer is pointing her to the Jamaica Oaks”.
