Fresh off the launch of their Live Better campaign four weeks ago… CB Foods introduces the first of their new product lines, Happy Foods.

Expanding beyond their offerings of chicken, pork and eggs, CB Foods is… launching a range of convenient ready-made foods that are geared towards inspiring a healthier lifestyle under the new brand. Focusing on freshness and using locally produced ingredients, this new product line offers a variety of pre-packaged meal options that consumers can simply take home, put on a plate, in a bowl or toss in the lunch bag. One such product that has given Alicia Bogues, brand manager, CB Foods Ltd, even more reason to smile is the handcrafted Jamaican Saturday comfort soups.

“We’re thrilled about this product line because it gives people options; foods that are healthy, convenient and affordable,” shared Bogues, in her introduction to the judges, as Event and Promotions Coordinator Kemoi Burke introduced the soups, notably chicken, pumpkin and red peas with pig’s tail, and in turn spoke of the authentic flavours, seasonings and spices.

“Canned soups,” he continued, “are high in additives and preservatives, and are usually imported, tend to be expensive and, most importantly, don’t generally capture the authentic Jamaican flavours many of us are looking for.” It was no idle boast! Happy Foods Soup — both flavours left grins on the faces, of all. Indeed, Shelly-Ann Curran was all smiles as she showed off her pig’s tail and Pauline Edie gave the chicken pumpkin soup an approving nod.

The soups are available at… Hi-Lo Food Stores Cross Roads, Liguanea, Manor Park and Barbican. Once the introductory phase is complete, the company plans to extend their reach islandwide.

Gungo Peas and Pepper Pot flavours are… also in the pipeline, with much more to come.

We hired a project manager about two years ago to… begin research and development for soups and other offerings, in the hope we could create a wholesome soup that never sacrificed the delicious flavours we all have come to know from our moms’ or grandmas’ Saturday soups. We wanted to take the hassle out of prep time and ensure the deliciousness remained.

What’s more… we do not use MSG and source all produce from local farmers. There are also no additives or preservatives.

The tub sizes of soup are currently available in… 16oz, with 32oz soon to be released.

Best to keep refrigerated… below 40ˆ°F.

Best before consumption date… typically 10 days after production date; expiration dates are labelled on each tub.
