‘Born ya’ business
As the country barrels towards three by-elections, the one in St Mary South Eastern has held primacy in the news cycle. The latest chapter in the saga concerns the revelation that People’s National Party candidate Dr Shane Alexis does not hold Jamaican citizenship. Columnist Garfield Higgins says the ‘Dunn Effect’ will win at the polls, and even the distraction of a potential court case between Alexis and the Jamaica Labour Party’s Young Jamaica will not derail that train. It’s a ‘Dunn deal’ says Higgins, what we should ask, though, is why did Alexis not pursue Jamaican citizenship?
