Montague, Holness in over their heads

The call for the resignation of Robert Montague as minister of national security should not simply be seen as partisan.
His resignation would clearly not mean that crime would end on the day he leaves; however, it has become very clear that he is neither mentally or physically equipped to handle his position.
As in any organisation, non performance of any employee usually results in either a demotion or firing. It is time to fire “Bobby”.
It was evident from day one that Minister Montague was in over his head, in much the same manner that Andrew Holness is in over his head as prime minister of Jamaica.
To see some Jamaicans taking to social media suggesting that members of the People’s National Party are calling for the resignation of Montague because it is political, smacks of sheer ignorance on their part.
In a country of near three million citizens, the murder of 1,600-odd in one year is alarming. And with 40-odd murders at the start of 2018, it is both alarming and troubling.
When the parish of St James alone records murders higher than the city of New York, which has 8-odd-million people living there, it is time for serious talks and serious actions.
The citizens of Jamaica are calling for the resignation of Montague — and by and large Andrew Holness as well — as the citizens are the employers, and Holness and Montague are the employees, and their lack of performance is an indication that neither is fit for their position.
In much the same manner that it was OK for Labourites to refer to Portia Simpson Miller as dumb when she erred, so it is that it is OK for Jamaicans to say Holness and Montague are both in and above their heads — none is above criticism.
Both Holness and Montague need to be replaced with individuals who know what they are doing, as this is not a personality contest to be played out on social media or elsewhere. Jamaican lives should matter. Or do lives only matter when they are snuffed out by police in foreign countries?
