Cavalier FC’s win breaks Arnett Garden’s streak
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Defending champions Cavalier FC ended Arnett Gardens’ nine games unbeaten run in the Jamaica Premier League after winning their rescheduled first round game 2-1 at the Anthony Spaulding Complex on Thursday.
Jalmaro Calvin scored the winner in the 88th minute to break a 1-1 tie as Arnett Gardens, who played with 10 men from the 36th minute, had come from a goal down and were hoping for at least a draw.
The win was the second in a row for Cavalier FC since winning the Concacaf Caribbean Cup and saw them improve to fifth in the points table on 22 points from 11 games played.
Arnett Gardens, who had won the previous six games stayed in second place on 27 points from 13 games, a point behind leaders Mt Pleasant FA.
Shaquille Stein gave Cavalier FC the lead in the 28th minute and Arnett Gardens went a man down in the 36th minute when Shamari Dyer was sent off.
Despite being a man short, Arnett Gardens drew level in the 42nd minute when Jamone Shepherd scored his first goal of the season.
Cavalier FC would take all three points, however, when he scored his sixth goal of the season with two minutes to go in regulation time.
