Emerging reggae artiste Wesrok is pleased with the feedback to his country-influenced single ‘True Love’ featuring American reggae band Big Mountain that has generated quite a buzz in the reggae world.

“The song says it all. Love is the answer to a world that is lost and full of hate. Only Jah love can save us. Love is taken for granted by all of us; there is nothing greater than Jah love, that brotherhood, and love for humanity,” Wesrok, whose real name is Percival Buddan, said.

Last year, when the single was first released, it entered the Billboard Country Digital Song Sales chart, debuting at #86. Wesrok released a video for the song last week that has racked up over 100,000 views on Youtube.

Big Mountain frontman Joaquin “Quino” (pronounced Keeno) McWhinney, is also amped at the positive reaction to the video.

“The response has been very positive. The production is also well arranged and the vocal performances are very dramatic and soulful,” Quino said.

Quino, who is of Mexican/Irish heritage, enjoyed shooting the video on the Pacific coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula.

“We shot the video in Ensenada. We had to wake up very early in the morning to take advantage of the morning sunrise and light. It was a lot of fun,” he shared.

Quino is the lead singer of Big Mountain, an American band best known for its remake of Peter Frampton’s ‘Baby, I Love Your Way’, which became a top 10 hit single in the United States in early 1994.
In the meantime, Wesrok has high hopes that the message of ‘True Love’ will touch an emotional chord with the masses.

“This is a song the world can enjoy, I am really proud of the production values and the message,” he said.

A former member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Wesrok began recording four years ago. His initial songs, such as ‘Poor Country Boy’and ‘Born As A Winner’, reflected his strong American country music influences.

His EP, ‘Look At Me Now’, was released in April 2021. In 2022, Wesrok made his debut on Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay.
