Heart Institute of the Caribbean (HIC) recently hosted the third staging of its esteemed Masters of Medicine Conference, under the theme ‘Her Heart Matters’.

This two-day event provided an in-depth exploration of cardiovascular disease in women, with a particular emphasis on the critical relationship between menopause and heart health, underscoring the importance of awareness and preventative strategies. Co-hosted by Heart HIC and Yale University and led by Dr Dainia Baugh, president of HIC Foundation; Dr Ernest Madu, founder and chairman of HIC; and Dr Edward Miller of Yale School of Medicine, the conference featured distinguished speakers from leading institutions. These included Yale, Harvard, and UCLA, further solidifying HIC’s commitment to excellence through fostering collaboration. The conference successfully achieved its objectives of creating knowledge-sharing platforms, fostering strategic partnerships, and promoting innovative solutions to advancing cardiovascular care outcomes and delivery in the Caribbean.

The international conference featured esteemed speakers from Yale School of Medicine, Harvard University, UCLA, and other top institutions. The 2025 edition of the international Masters of Medicine Conference, held under the theme ‘Her Heart Matters’, explored cardiovascular disease in women, with a special focus on the crucial relationship between menopause and women’s heart health.
