Sara Misir finishes second at Lagos Grand Prix
LAGOS, Nigeria— Jamaican motorsport star Sara Misir delivered a stellar performance at the Lagos Grand Prix in Nigeria on Sunday, finishing second overall and propelling Team Blue Rising to third place in the team standings ahead of the E1 Series Grand Final, set for November 7–8 in Biscayne Bay, Miami.
This was the first E1 event to be held in Africa.
Coming off a strong showing in the previous round, where they won the Monaco Grand Prix on July 19, Misir and teammate John Peeters followed up with another powerful performance in Lagos, determined to close the gap on the championship leaders. The action-packed race ended with Team Brazil by Claure Group taking the top step of the podium, while Team Drogba finished third.

Misir took the wheel for the opening race and produced a remarkable run through the field, moving up from P7 to P2 by the chequered flag. Her impressive finish handed Peeters a front-row start in second place for his heat, which he converted into a commanding win.
Through their combined efforts, Misir lined up third on the grid for the final race, where she showcased her trademark consistency and racecraft to secure second place overall, marking one of her strongest finishes of the season.

This result marks Team Blue Rising’s third consecutive podium, following their victory in Monaco and third place in Italy on June 28.
Earlier in the season, they also finished third in the opening round on January 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The team has now stood on the podium in four of the six E1 Grand Prix events contested so far in Misir’s debut season, a remarkable achievement that underscores their growing consistency and competitiveness on the global stage.

This latest podium finish cements Team Blue Rising’s position in third place on the championship table, setting up an exciting title showdown at the Miami Grand Prix, the season finale.
“It was a really intense race weekend, and I’m proud of how we fought through the field,” said Misir. “The team strategy paid off, and we’re in a strong position heading into Miami. We can’t wait to give it my all at the Grand Final.”
The Miami Grand Prix, scheduled for November 7–8, promises high stakes and high drama on the waters of Biscayne Bay. This is Misir’s debut season in motorboat racing, where she continues to make waves for Jamaicans in motorsport.
