Digita Global invests $75 million in new production studio

Digital media and technology company Digital Global Marketing (DGM) has moved to further expand its business with the commissioning of a new state-of-the-art multimedia production facility, Studio D, brought to life by a $75-million investment.

The investment, which was financed through a combination of debt and shareholder equity, follows the roll-out of its Enigma co-working and ideation space, which was developed last year at a cost of $100 million.

The new studio, which represents a major expansion of DGM’s creative and production capabilities, CEO Kemal Brown said reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting Jamaica’s growing content and creative economy.

“What we have created is an ecosystem where individuals and companies can access a highly professional, modern space unlike any other studio,” Brown told the Jamaica Observer.

“At DGM, we have long received requests for photoshoots, videos, and podcasts, so we decided to invest in this space not only to support our in-house needs, but also to make it available for external use,” he further said to the Business Observer.

The studio developed to address long-standing gaps in the local production landscape is centrally located and built to international standards.

“We wanted to create a space that simplifies, streamlines, and centralises production,” Brown said.

“Studio D is more than just a studio — it’s a globally relevant, beautifully designed environment where professionals can ideate, produce, and finalise their work without unnecessary logistical challenges,” he added.

Operating in close collaboration with Enigma, Studio D forms part of what Brown referred to as ‘The Creative Collective’— an integrated ecosystem designed to support projects from concept to execution. Under this model, ideas are developed and refined at Enigma and then brought to life at Studio D.

Not targeted exclusively at creatives, Studio D caters to a wide cross section of users, including content creators, podcasters, photographers, videographers, businesses, advertising agencies, government entities, and individuals seeking a professional production space. The studio can accommodate full production teams and a broad range of use cases, from corporate campaigns and product shoots to live streaming, podcasts, and voice-over recording.

Located along Mountain View Avenue in Kingston, the fully equipped facility spans more than 1,000 square feet and features a soundproofed production area, professional lighting, a dedicated editing bay outfitted with high-performance Mac Studio and iMac systems, and a modern lounge space designed for client comfort.

Unlike many traditional studios, Brown further said that Studio D offers flexibility in how clients can use the space.

“Users can opt for a self-driven model, bringing their own equipment and production teams, or they can utilise the studio-driven model, where DGM provides end-to-end production support, providing access to professional cameras, lighting, microphones, staging equipment, backdrops, and technical set-up — allowing clients to arrive with just an idea and leave with finished content,” he noted.

In addition to production services, Studio D will also feature a small retail segment focused on selling new production-related equipment such as cameras, SD cards, laptops, MacBooks and other accessories commonly used by content professionals.

DGM, a subsidiary of the larger Digita Global Group (DGG), continues to expand its offerings across marketing, digital transformation, and content production to serve a growing client base. The wider group has interests spanning multiple business areas, including real estate done through it Digita Properties portfolio.

“With our current suite of businesses under DGM, we’re now comfortably positioned to serve a wide range of clients globally. We, however, remain open to further expansion as we continue to focus on adding value to the marketplace. If we identify a strategic niche that aligns with our goals, we will pursue it once the necessary risk assessments are completed. We are, therefore, open to new opportunities, including potential acquisitions under the DGM brand,” Brown said of the outlook.

BROWN... at DGM, we have long received requests for photoshoots, videos and podcasts, so we decided to invest in this space not only to support our in-house needs, but also to make it available for external use.
