Chuck Fenda, Junavill Records team up for Wah Gwaan Pon Di Rock
Reggae artiste Chuck Fenda has secured another viral song with his newest release, Wah Gwaan Pon Di Rock, on Di Regulator rhythm by producer Collin “Junavill” Clarke. The track is a social commentary on the many inequalities that exist in Jamaica.
“The song is an unfiltered indictment of Jamaica’s current state, laying bare the violence, injustice, and economic hardships that have left many citizens struggling to survive. It refuses to sugar-coat reality, forcing attention on the deep-rooted problems affecting the nation,” he said.
He added: “The listener feedback on the song has been massive. The energy out in the street is crazy, both locally and overseas. Every day people [are] calling us about this song— selectors, radio stations, in-the-streets fans… people all over,” the entertainer said.
Released on June 5, Chuck Fenda said he instantly fell in love with the rhythm and acted on it.
“Di Regulator rhythm came to me as a mission; to expose the darkness plaguing society and speak the truth through music. That message alone was enough reason for me to jump on the rhythm,” he explained.
Chuck Fenda is widely known for hits like Gash Dem And Light Dem, I Swear, and Coming Over Tonight.
Presently, the artiste is promoting several musical projects as he gears up for summer European shows.
“Right now, I have quite a few new songs out there. I have a song called Put It On Me; it’s a song like Coming Over Tonight. I have another song called The Time Is Now. I also have some new releases coming up… We still have the
Eternal Fire album [that is] still doing extremely well on my website. I am going to be headlining Lakesplash in Switzerland on July 10, and I have the Turnpike Festival, in Germany, in August — also as the headliner,” he said.
The entertainer is encouraging his fans to remain positive, to promote peace and unity, and to condemn violence and crime.
“Work is being put in and we’re just freeing the people through music and lifting up Jamaica with righteousness because that’s what it needs right now… We’re just using righteousness to wipe away the illusion and confusion that they put on people and the negativity,” Chuck Fenda said.
