Drama to the wire as Kool Kat, Miss Cookie, Gujurat claim 2nd-quarter titles
The second quarter of the 2026 Capital Betting and Wagering Limited/Jamaica Observer Tipsters’ Competition delivered edge-of-your-seat drama, and when the dust settled three names stood above the rest, Ruddy Allen (Kool Kat), Bernadette Bishope (Miss Cookie), and Anthony Allen (Gujurat).
Defending champion Kool Kat and first-quarter winner Miss Cookie tied for first place in the Most Wins category with 139 winners each, while Gujurat cruised to victory in the Monetary category.
Kool Kat and Miss Cookie each pocketed $10,000, with Gujurat taking home $20,000.
Kool Kat came from behind to lead by two winners entering the last two race meets. But a late surge from Miss Cookie saw her pulling to just one behind Kool Kat at 136 to 135 entering the final race day of Sunday, June 28. Miss Cookie went one ahead when her tips Cryptogirl and Lucky Papa came through, but Kool Kat had Blood Moon winning to force a tie.
The chasing pack wasn’t far behind. Donald Bahadur (Sir Donald), who was also just one winner behind Kool Kat entering the final race day, failed to make up any ground and finished third on 138 winners. Sherdon Cowan (The General) was also one winner back on 137 for fourth place.
The other tipsters were Gujurat (127 – winners), Jason Duncan (Jahson – 127 winners), Mark Collins (Markie – 123 winners), Garfield Robinson (Santa – 122 winners), and Kingsley Gentles (The Genius – 113 winners).
Gujurat, meanwhile, was untouchable in the money race and secured his winnings in comfortable fashion. He finished with $31,041, outdoing first-quarter winner The General, who faded late following an aggressive betting strategy to finish on $27,868 after having a healthy lead of over $41,000.
Kool Kat finished third with $23,500, Santa was fourth with $20,362.
As the competition continues, it will be interesting to see how the tipsters go about the third quarter which runs from July to September.
