Shelly-Ann, VCB qualify easily for 200 metres final
AFTER a surprise in the men’s 100m final, Olympic champion Usain Bolt looked easy as he advanced to tomorrow’ final of the men’s 200m at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Championships at the National Stadium in a time of 20.26 seconds in winning semi-final three.
Newly minted 100m champion Yohan Blake is also through after posting a time of 19.93 seconds in securign victory in semi-final two ahead of Warren Weir in a new personal best 19.99 seconds.
Nickel Ashmeade 20.15 seconds claimed heat one ahead of Nesta Carter 20.37 seconds.
The top three from the womens’ 100m are also through to the 200m final set for Sunday evening.
Shelly-Ann Frase-Pryce posted 22.55 seconds to secure an easy run in semi-final two and advanced with the fastest qualifying time ahead of reigning champion Veronica Campbell-Brown who won heat one in 22.79 seconds.
Also through was Sherone Simpson, Anneisha McLaughlin, Samantha Henry Robinson, Kerron Stewart, Aleen Bailey and Schillonie Calvert.
