ONLINE READERS COMMENT: Stop demonising teachers
Dear editor,
It is sad that the government and their sympathisers make overt and covert efforts to demonise the nations’ teachers whenever it comes to wage negotiations.
A smart government and leader would have had a soft engagement before the agreement talks took place to see what can really be done to affect better conditions for teachers who also leave in droves each year to greener pastures.
The government has always seemed to be able to find monies to give the EOJ and other entities to foster their re-election capabilities at a moment’s notice, but find it hard to respectfully place the teachers in a position where they can better teach our children.
I cannot believe that we have a prime minister and the many members of Parliament who have benefitted from the nation’s teachers still pussyfooting around real solutions to education in Jamaica.
Or is it that the education system has given us a lame brain prime minister and the teachers are suffering the results right now?
Either way someone has to grow a brain and fast or the future is bleak.
