Just like they did the weekend before, Calabar High school dominated the boys’ section at the Douglas Forrest Invitational Meet held at the GC Foster College last Saturday.

Junior Harris of Camperdown High won the Class Three Boys’ 200m in 26.35s, followed by the Calabar pair of Mark Manley in 23.87s and Omario Henry third in 24.00.

The boys from Red Hills Road dominated in the higher classes, however, as the pair of Corey Ottey (22.43s) and Ellado Coltas (22.47s) finished first and second in Class Two, followed by Sharvis Simmonds of Excelsior High who also clocked 22.47 for third. Calabar swept the first six places in Class One, as Oblique Seville (21.71s), Evaldo Whitehorne (21.84) and Brandon Heath (21.92) took the first three places.

St Mary High had a fairly good day in both the boys’ and girls’ sections. In one of those moments, Devounie Williams stopped the clock at 2:12.58 in the Class Three Boys’ 800m, with Rojey Thomas of Calabar second in 2:13.98 and Joshua Hyde of Wolmer’s Boys’ third in 2:15.62s.

Jason Murray of Charlemont High, the school of Jamaican sprint legend Asafa Powell, took the Class Two event in 2:03.12, while Dwayne Thompson of Ferncourt High was second in 2:06.42 and Tahjah Smith of Wolmer’s Boys’ third in 2:06.50.

Tyrice Taylor of the little- known Enid Bennett High won the Class One Boys’ 800m in 1:55.86s, Jevanne Davy of Excelsior High was second in 1:57.50, and Taj-Leon Wisdom of Bridgeport High third in 1:58.20.

Joshua Hyde of Wolmer’s Boys took the Class Three Boys’ 1500m in 4:39.29, David Martin of Calabar High won Class 2 in 4:21.03, while Tyrese Reid who ran unattached, won the Class one section in 4:05.06.

Kevroy Venson won the 5,000m Open in 15:47.68, while his teammate Rivaldo Marshall was second 16:23.48. Noel Ellis of Campion College was third in 16:47.06.

The 400m hurdles events were also won by Calabar High as Javel Fullerton took the Class Two race in 55.94, while the preseason favourite Nicquaine Henry won the Class One equivalent in 53.56.

Immaculate Conception High were impressive in the sprints in the lower classes just as they were at Jamaica College. Jounee Armstrong won the Class Four Girls’ 200m in 25.97s followed by Ryana Dennis of St Mary High in 26.39, while Deandra Harris of Vere Technical was third in 26.54.

The school from Constant Spring was first and second in Class Three, Chanel Honeywell (25.23) finishing ahead of her teammate Mickalia Hainsley (25.50) with Oneika McAnnuff of Hydel High third, also in 25.50.

The Ferry-based Hydel then dominated in the higher classes as Shenese Walker won Class in Two in 25.17, Niesha Burgher of Excelsior was second in 25.27, and Gabriel White also of Hydel — third in 25.38.

The powerfully built Ashanti Moore (24.74) and her teammate Charokee Young (24.98) were first and third in Class One, respectively, split by Terresha Wlacott of Vere Technical (24.88).

Shone Walters of St Mary High won the Class Three Girls’ 800m in 2:21.41, her teammate Brittany Garwood was second in 2:25.56, and Vanessa Ward of Titchfield High was third in 2:25.58.

In Class One, Abigail Brooks of Hydel was first in 2:19.22, Abigail Schaffe of St Mary High, was second in 2:19.97, and Tamera Howell, also of St Mary High was third in 2:20.98.

Shone Walters of St Mary High won the Class Three Girls 1500m, while her teammate Tamera Howell was first in Class One.

Hydel swept the 3,000m Open — Jodian Campbell first in 11:12.20, Jade Jones second in 11:31.97 and Tishana Holgate third in 11:56.17.

Abigail Schaaffe of St Mary High, who had a good day at the meet, won the 400m Hurdles Open in 1:02.92, Charokee Young of Hydel was second in 1:03.21, and her teammate Garriel White was third in 1:03.70.

Hydel, who entered three teams in the Girls’ 4x400m Open, swept the top three places, while St Catherine High, who entered two teams in the Sprint Medley of Girls, took the top two places, with Manning’s School finishing third.

Wolmer’s Boys’ won the 4X400m Open while Bridgeport High won the Sprint Medley.
