15 companies nominated for JCC’s business excellence awards

The Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) is this year celebrating its 240th year anniversary under the theme ‘Celebrating History and Heralding the Future’.

At its 2019 launch and nominee announcement held on Monday at the organisation’s headquarters, nominees were announced in several categories.

The nominees for this year and by category were:

Best of Chamber — Small: Delta Supply Co Ltd, GeoTech Vision, iPrint Digital, Mona School of Business & Management;

Best of Chamber — Medium: Dennis Shipping, Jamaica Stock Exchange, Massy Gas Products;

Best of Chamber — Large: DunnCox, Fontana, Nestle;

Best of Chamber – Extra Large: Jamaica Broilers, Red Stripe and Seprod .

The nominees for the Entrepreneur Award were Dennis Shipping, GeoTechVision and The Lab.

The JCC Yello Digital Marketing Excellence Award nomination went to GraceKennedy and Nestle.

Every year the entity recognises and honours businesses and entrepreneurs who have excelled in meeting their corporate goals and objectives over the last year.

In a release yesterday, Lloyd Distant Jr, president of the JCC, said that as the chamber attained its 240th year as an institution dedicated to the growth of Jamaica, they have paused to reflect on the many achievements of the chamber and at the same time reaffirm the need to play their part in continuing to shape the future of Jamaica.

“This year, as we recognise the institutions that represent the best of the current chamber, we will also take the time to honour those who have been instrumental in creating the foundations on which the current JCC stands, while we work on building the pillars for Jamaica 2030 and beyond,” he shared.

In selecting a winner from each category, the overall performance of the companies during the year 2018 will be evaluated. This will cover areas such as financial performance, business growth and innovation, human resource development, corporate social responsibility, and community outreach.

“This year, a particular focus will be placed on the ever-evolving space of digital marketing for the newly dubbed JCC Yello Digital Marketing Excellence Award. Judging criteria includes strategy, execution, creativity, results. Overall, the awards will recognise and reward the efforts of the nominated companies and their staff,” the release also stated.

The Annual Awards Ceremony and Grand Gala will take place on November 2nd at Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, and will be a joint celebration with the Sameer Younis Foundation.
