She based her career on extolling the virtues of butter, deep-frying and sugar, but when Paula Deen was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes… she knew things had to change. Six months after she revealed the diagnosis, the 65-year-old has lost 30lbs and she’s keen to share her diet loss tips with her legions of fans. “I do think differently now about food”, Deen admits. “I’m more aware.” The queen of southern cuisine opened her Savannah home to People magazine, to show how she’s changed her eating ways. The chef has replaced her favourite fried chicken and mashed potato with Greek salads and baked fish. Deen, who learned she had the disease three years ago, told People: “It took me a couple of years to get to this point.” She added: “If you make a few small changes, they can add up to big results.” She explained: “I’m redoing the way my plate looks. I’m doubling up on salad or vegetables and putting smaller portions of carbs and all that. I try to walk thirty minutes a day.” One of her most strident critics was her old rival Anthony Bourdain, with the who took to Twitter to attack her over the fact she had promoted an unhealthy diet and was now making money from the consequences.

She’s not even three months old, but Pearl Osbourne is proving to be quite the fashionista.

The little tot was treated to a dip in the pool by father Jack Osbourne, who beamed with pride. As he clutched his daughter around her middle, his hands looked huge in comparison to hers. Jack shared the snapshot with fans on Twitter, adding the simple caption: “Swimming with Pearl”. The two-month-old appears to be following in the footsteps of trendsetter auntie Kelly — who is a judge on Fashion Police and has her own line — with her adorable oversized baby pink sunglasses. Jack appeared to be in high spirits following his recent shock MS diagnosis. Last week, he was back on daddy duties as he was spotted on a coffee outing in LA with Pearl. Jack’s family have rallied around him since the news broke, with Kelly being a tower of strength. The reality TV star ensured she spent quality time with her sibling last week, as well as her niece. Kelly shared a personal photo of herself cuddling up to Jack and his baby daughter, who sat cosily in his arms. She wrote: “Best family night ever! nothing like a hug from my little brother @mrjacko.” Jack appeared on his mother Sharon Osbourne’s show The Talk to discuss all about the illness. And he took to Twitter to blast about people sensationalising his health, writing: “I AM NOT DYING!”

Bare-ly recognisable

She is a movie star who usually looks particularly glamorous and youthful for her age. So it was somewhat unusual to see Sharon Stone looking distinctly tired and washed out as she went out for lunch in Los Angeles. The 54-year-old actress wore no make-up and her blonde hair hung loose around her shoulders as she dined outside with two female friends. Dressed in a simple black T-shirt, she held her head in one hand and looked weary while sipping from a glass of iced water and eating a salad. Sharon was also without her hunky model toyboy Martin Mica — 27 years her junior.

She and the 27-year-old Argentine model have been spotted in various public displays of affection since May this year. The star has a busy year ahead, with three movies slated to be released in 2012. She plays Aphrodite in Gods Behaving Badly — a film adapted from the novel, which tells the story of the twelve gods of Mount Olympus living in a rundown flat as their powers wane.
